At Horse Racing Gold we currently maintain a very long term - 5800+ races - ROI right at +26%. We'll be conservative here and add in an error factor for the less experienced players. Let's call it 18% ROI.
Some might not realize the potential of an 18% return on investment - but look at the following table . . .

Column 1, # tracks = the number of tracks you're betting each day
Column 2, # days = the number of days you wager per week
Column 3, # races = the number of races bet per track each day
Column 4, $ amt. bet = amount of money bet per race on average
Column 5, ROI % = return on investment / profit
Column 6, profit per month = Weekly profit multiplied x 4.2 (weeks in a month)
Column 7, profit year = monthly profits multiplied x 10
(a 10 month working year helps prevents "burn-out").

These figures are do-able for the serious player who has patience, nerve, and self-confidence. "Dabblers" will need to cut these figures considerably.
The second to last line in the table shows what a serious player with a $100 "comfort level" could expect to gross. The last line is the high-water mark - something to shoot for! This line shows the likely limit for a bettor with a "high burnout tolerance."
Most other permutations you might want to check out should be easy enough by using basic math.
Example - say you want to bet $25 per race - just use half the $50 dollar figures. If you want to project a $40 bet level - just double the $20 figures - etc.
If you want to project a 30% ROI - just use a multiplier of 1.2 ( 30% divided by 25%). If you want to project an 18% ROI - just use a multiplier of .72 ( 18% divided by 25%) and so on.
